I sat on this dune on our camping trip to Jalama and felt a since of serenity I had not felt in years. Over 1 1/2 years with out alcohol and recovery work has brought me back to my self, although I am still discovering just who that is.
A little about me maybe as I begin this Blog journey. My name is Rachel, I am on the brink of turning 50 and live in Colorado with my husband and grown(ish) sons. I was born in Santa Fe New Mexico to hippy parents and even have a crazy middle name, Little Flower. My father was and still is a hippy singer songwriter and jeweler in New Mexico and my mom, a scientist and fabric artist. My parents divorced in what we now call conscious uncoupling when I was 8 and have reminded very good friends all these years. I grew up with my Mother who has been a practicing Buddhist my whole life. I have been married for 25 years with a very real marriage with real struggle, and now find a peace and happiness in the relationship that is new and wonderful. My boys are 20 and 23 years old and both still live in the town we have been in since they were born. That's a good snip to start.. more will be revealed.
I have felt the tug to share my journey of recovery and spiritual renewal knowing that what I have read and heard has been so helpful to me. Real honesty, vulnerability and personal truth has helped me to find my connection to my Higher Power as I understand it and a happiness I have not felt in a long time.
I am not sure what will come, but my hope is that it provides a place where we can come together and do this work of life in a way that allows us to be more connected to our selves and others, to be more fully present and in our lives.
I look forward to sharing and interacting with other like-minded souls as we Recoveryoursoul.
Blessings,
Rachel
